International Semester Course (ISC)

International Semester Courses (formerly known as Study Year Abroad) are designed for long-term English language training - ideal if you plan to study English for a minimum of 6 months. ISC students benefit from:

 

A structured programme of long term General English study, for 20 lessons per week (half day courses in the mornings or afternoons) or full-day courses of 28 lessons per week

 

Flexible monthly start dates throughout the year

 

Flexible course length of 24 weeks or more

 

Flexible holiday break of up to 4 weeks

 

Specially reduced tuition and accommodation rates

 

Special "add on" programmes such as English for Business or Tourism

 

Preparation for examinations such as Cambridge, IELTS or TOEFL

 

Academic counselling and University Placement Service

 

Total immersion in English or American language and culture for 6+ months

Multi-centre Courses

On the multi-centre course, ISC students can choose to study at different St Giles locations in the UK or USA. The minimum period for study at any one centre is 12 weeks. Simply send your enrolment form to the college where you plan to start your studies with St Giles and we will do the rest!

Accommodation Options

As part of the learning experience we place ISC students in carefully selected English speaking homes. For stays of 24 weeks or more we can offer you specially discounted rates in shared and single rooms with breakfast and evening meals included. If you don't want to reserve accommodation for your entire International Semester Course, you can reserve any of our regular accommodation options for a minimum of one week.

The table below provides a guide to possible course progression over 6 or 9 months. Choose 2 consecutive sessions for a 6 month course, or 3 consecutive sessions for a 9 month course.

Optional afternoon modules are included in the tuition fees for full-day students, and are also available to morning students for an additional fee of GBP 161(UK) or USD 262(USA) per 4 weeks. Modules are available at various centres and times during the year. Check with the college of your choice for further details.

Please check with us that the examination you wish to take is available during the period of your course. St Giles reserves the right to offer alternative courses in the event of low demand for particular courses.
